Get out of your comfort zone and discover what you are capable of, chase your goals and dreams and grow every day! 

I love that early part of the New Year where the old year is behind me and a brand New Year stretches out ahead with all its tantalising opportunities and possibilities and I ask myself what do I want to achieve this year.

 Apart from all the usual to do’s of work, family, friends, health and personal growth is always on the top of my list. A focus on these two areas in particular helps me maximise what I get out of each year.

Any sort of growth requires us to get out of comfort zone and take action.  A great way to do that is to get a coach, to set some goals together, break them down into daily/weekly tasks and be held accountable for getting the work done. Without accountability we end up only doing the work when we feel like it, results stall and we quit on ourselves.

High Performance Coach Brendon Burchard believes that our health and fitness routines should be our top priority when it comes to getting the best out of ourselves. He would say that if you want to level up in life, spend a year just working on establishing good daily nourishment and exercise routines.

1) Clear and Committed

It’s really important to gain clarity around your goals and why they are important to you. To do this create a vision of what achieving your goals will give you so that the actions steps you must take to get there will be a must and meaningful for you.

2) How much exercise and what?

We get that Resistance Training isn’t everyone’s favourite way to exercise but the benefits are way too amazing to ignore! Just like brushing our teeth is a daily non-negotiable, so too is resistance training. To make it easy create a routine. Lock in your 2 training sessions a week, and set and forget. Then let the magic of doing that work consistently over time reward you. With just 2 sessions a week there’s plenty of room to include other favourite types of exercise!

3) How often to eat and what?

One of the big keys to success is eating every 3-4 hours each day. This habit alone will help you regulate your blood sugars and prevent you from those ridiculous cravings that scream ‘chocolate’ or ‘chips’ when you haven’t eaten enough. Once you harness the power of nutrient timing you’ll love how you can really take control of your day and over what you eat and drink.

4) Aligning your values to your actions
What is it that you love to talk about, think about and research? When you align your highest values with your health and fitness goals you’ll be able to find a lot more meaning in the tasks that lead to success.

5) Planning and preparation
If you want that rocking body of health then there is no other shortcut than a bit of planning and prepping to get there. Perfection and hours and hours in the kitchen with lots of mess is never required. Starting from where you are now build some simple planning and prepping habits that feel achievable for you. Then over the course of days, weeks, months and years these tiny improvements to your eating routines will add up to transformational success!

6) The power of accountability
None of us ever get to our dreams on our own. We need to courageously put ourselves out there, surround ourselves with the right people who can support us and believe in us.  There’s nothing like the power of accountability and SMART goals to move you forwards.

7) What’s holding you back?
Finally you’ve got to figure out what has been holding you back of taking hold of your dreams! Why do you sabotage yourself? Why aren’t you consistent? Why do you know what to do and then not do it? Then it’s time to overcome your stories, limitations, sabotages and excuses once and for all with powerful affirmations and take hold of your dreams.

Through Legacy, I learned to love and enjoy food, and I appreciate that nothing is off limits. I’m 61, and I’ve never felt fitter, stronger, healthier and happier in my life! I’m living life to the fullest, I love the way I feel and I still can’t believe the person looking back at me in the mirror!”
